Common questions
Many agreements run for a set number of years and describe renewal, early termination, and end-of-term choices.
Look for an escalator, a production-based rate, or fees that change over time and compare them with the sales illustration.
Agreements that allow early exit usually describe how the price is calculated, who must be notified, and what happens to the equipment.
Why ownership matters
Under a lease the homeowner generally makes periodic payments to use equipment owned by a third party. Under a power purchase agreement the homeowner generally pays for the electricity the system produces. Either way, the provider usually keeps ownership, handles maintenance under stated terms, and may record a notice against the property.
Because of that, questions about removal, insurance, roof work, and home sale usually run through the provider rather than a lender or installer. A review starts by confirming which structure you actually signed.
A measured approach
Request a complete signed copy, including every exhibit, rider, and amendment, if you do not already have it.
Note term, payment schedule, escalator, termination and buyout language, transfer rules, notice addresses, and dispute procedures.
Decide what you are asking the provider to confirm, correct, or provide in writing, and keep a record of every response.
Lease and PPA questions
It depends on the agreement, the timing, and the law that applies. A short early window may exist for some sales, and the agreement may describe an early-termination or buyout process. Many agreements are not simply cancellable, so read the termination language before relying on any promise.
Only if the agreement or a negotiated resolution says so, and removal terms and costs vary. Do not remove equipment yourself.
